The Pohnpei Public Library celebrated the Summer Program 2015 on July 17, 2015. There was a short program that was prepared for the day. Head Librarian welcomed everyone to the short program and thanked participants, volunteers and parents for their assistance during the four weeks program. All the participants received certificates and prizes presented by the staff and volunteers. Head Librarian also handed out certificates to the contributors and volunteers for this year on behalf of the Friends of the Pohnpei Public Library.
The Theme for this year’s Summer Program was “Every Hero Has a Story”. This year we were fortunate to have the Pacific Partnership to read stories and provide other activities for the kids on the
first two weeks. From the theme, volunteers shared stories and provided activities for the kids. These activities were sent in a manual by the Collaborative Summer Library Program in Iowa. The kids learned songs, made crafts and enjoyed other fun and educational activities. The Program this year was funded through a grant from Institute of Museums and Library Services (IMLS). This Summer Reading has been very successful with the involvement of the volunteers, parents, participants and the contributors for this year. Friends of the Pohnpei Public Library would like to thank the IMLS, FSM National Archives, US Embassy, Pacific Partnership Team, Conservation Society of Pohnpei, Micronesian Conservation Trust and The Nature Conservancy for your valuable contributions and supports. And a huge thank you for the following individuals for their involvement during the four week program; Kelly Jo Vanderiet, Leslie Cook, Hanika Cook, Evan Cook, Sarah Clark, Easton Perman, D’artenan Weital, Marson Weital and Belsin Martin. THANK YOU ALL FROM THE FRIENDS OF THE POHNPEI PUBLIC LIBRARY!!!
