Celebration of the Summer Reading 2016

The Pohnpei Public Library celebrated the Summer Program 2016 on July 15, 2016. There was a short program that was prepared for the day. Head Librarian welcomed everyone to the short program and thanked participants, volunteers and parents for their assistance during the four weeks program. All the participants received certificates and prizes presented by the staff and volunteers.

The Theme for this year’s Summer Program was “On Your Mark, Get Set Read”. A total of 118 (K-5 to 8th grade) participated in the program and received certificates with gifts and prizes. It was a four week programs with many stories in sports were shared by volunteers. The kids also learned songs, made crafts and enjoyed other fun and educational activities provided by the Collaborative Summer Library Program 2016 manual compiled by the public librarians in 2015 CSLP Annual Conference in Rhode Island which Pohnpei Public Library was also participated.

This Summer Reading was very successful with the involvement of the volunteers, parents, participants and the contributors for this year. Friends of the Pohnpei Public Library would like to thank the following for their valuable contributions and supports. FSM Petro Corp, IOM, Karleen Manuel, Scott Shanahan, Spencer Scot Parker, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Agustin, Nancyleen Peter, Lt. Cory Henry, Carmina Lihpai, Shawna Mae Sue, Beatrice Ehmes, Letisha Apaisam and Donovan Delcampo. Friends of the Pohnpei Public Library (FPPL) presented certificate of appreciation to all these wonderful agencies and individuals.
