Kosrae's Rose Mackwelung Librarians Visit Pohnpei Public Library for the Summer of 2024!

🌟 A Heartfelt Thank You to Team Sleeping Lady! 🌟

We are immensely grateful to Dickson Andon and Mary Thomson for taking the time to visit the Pohnpei Public Library and shadow us during our Summer Reading Program this year. Your enthusiasm and dedication to enhancing library services truly shone through, and we were honored to share our methods and experiences with you.

From Left: John Andon (Library Aide - Pohnpei), Mary Thomson (Rose Mackwelung Library Staff - Kosrae), Emyleen Charley (Assistant Librarian - Pohnpei), Erika Billen (Library Technician - Pohnpei), Trueleen J. Albert (Head Librarian - Pohnpei), Dickson Andon (Rose Mackwelung Library Staff - Kosrae)

Your engagement and insightful observations were greatly appreciated, and we’re excited to see how you’ll adapt and implement these strategies at the Rose Mackwelung Library in Kosrae. We’re confident that the innovative approaches you’ve observed will bring new dimensions to your summer programs and benefit the community in wonderful ways. One of the most prized take-away experiences of their trip included basic first aid training which is crucial for library staff working with children and people of all ages.

This visit was made possible by the grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) through the FSM Office of National Archives, Culture and Historic Preservation (NACH). We were able to have the finest representatives of our sister state of Kosrae join in the summer festivities!

The Board of the PPL would like to thank you once again for your visit and your commitment to fostering a love of reading and learning. We look forward to hearing about the fantastic progress and positive impact you’re sure to achieve!
