THE RULES REMAIN...

 ARE YOU DEMURE?

With September rolling in and bringing in new faces in new schools we are welcoming more and more new people into our learning haven. As a refresher, we would like to remind everyone about the rules and regulation of the Pohnpei Public Library:

LIBRARY RULES:

  • Noise, disturbances, or unseemly behavior--including abusive or threatening behavior toward the Library staff or other individuals--is prohibited. Another core value of the PPL is the ensurance of safety for our patrons because it is a place for people from all walks of life to come together and learn without any fear of threat of discrimination or bullying.
  • No food or drinks (other than bottled water) are permitted in the Library building- you may keep your waterbottle with you but you cannot drink it whilst inside the building. Any food stains may  stain the book or  attract insects that may ruin the book. Too much moisture can also ruin the quality of the books so we ask that each patron takes good care of how they handle the books in this context.
  • Smoking or chewing betel nut is not permitted in the Library building or anywhere on the Library grounds because this is a drug free compound. We want to promote the integrity of good moral practices and have a space that keeps kids safe from drug use.
  • Disruptive mobile phone use is prohibited. Mobile phones should be switched off or set to silent mode in the Library building. Talking on the phone or letting it ring or beep is prohibited, because it is disruptive to the learning environment that we are trying to create and maintain.
  • Sleeping is prohibited in the library because this is a Non-Government Organization (NGO) that is being supported by leaders, members of the community and even stakeholders from other parts of the world, so we try our best to showcase a level of professionalism to show respect to the kind contributions of our supporters.
  • Using the phone for personal calls is not allowed to go beyond 2 minutes. Many crucial calls are done via the office phone and we need to keep the phone lines open so as to not miss any important calls. Calling cabs can be done by staff since the main phone in circulation is not functioning anymore--if the staff is not available, you can be permitted to call your own cab, however, please do not loiter at the phone after your call or go beyond the allotted time of 2 minutes. Thank you.
Please help us uphold these rules😊...
