Story Hour Takes Place with a Whopping 40 kids!

SEPTEMBER STORY HOUR with the Staff

We saw a record high this month in the number of kids coming in to enjoy the story hour yesterday lead by none other than the staff of the Friends of the Pohnpei Public Library Mr. John Andon (reading Peter Rabbit) and Mrs. Emyleen P. Charley (guiding the learning activity). The kids had plenty of fun and learned a lot that afternoon, engaging in educational puzzles and crafting activities. The kids shared the buzzing excitement of story time listening as the tale was orally woven to them by Mr. Andon in his usual peaceful demeanor and calming style of speech. After the reading they had activities with Mrs. Charley and it enabled the kids to engange with each other and bond over the story and learn together. The Boar of the PPL continues to praise these efforts of the little ones coming to listen to stories, we the staff as well are very pleased to see that there is actual clear positive outcome of what we are doing for the community, although it is small, we can see the kids coming in later on even to just immitate the reader is a good sign. Picking up a book is always going to be better than picking up a cellphone and we stand by that fact. Again, we appreciate the families that support the library and care about these efforts. The greatest challenge used to be bringing kids in to join the reading hour, now the struggle is to provide enough pop corn for the kids after the reading ends.
