International Organization of Migration (IOM) Teaches Children About Distaster Preparedness

Today at Story Hour, Yolanda from IOM made her second guest appearance. We sang our disaster preparedness song, read a comic book about what would happen if a tsunami hit Pohnpei and how people should respond, had a question and answer session, and painted some tsunami pictures as a craft activity. It was a great, educational day!

ABOUT US

In the mid-1980s Chris and Penny Weilbacher established a plan for the development of a public library on Pohnpei. Others were quick to join their effort and the Friends of Pohnpei Public Library (FPPL) organization was founded in May 1986. The organization subsequently began a long and difficult process of fund-raising and collecting books for the project. The Library officially opened in February 1988.

STAFF & BOARD MEMBERS

Pohnpei Public Library has five permanent staff members: Trueleen J. Albert (Head Librarian), Emyleen Charley (Assistant Librarian), Erika E. Billen (Library Technician),Jordan Ligorio (Library Aide I), and Resel Augustine (Custodian). The operations of the Library are managed by a local seven-member board.

I Love You Forever, Stephanie's Ponytail, Mortimer, Paper Bag Princess, Purple, Green & Yellow are just a few of the books written by Robert Munsch that we are reading this month as we focus on families.
