The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) Judicial Training 2025 brought together judges, clerks, and legal professionals from across the nation for an intensive program designed to strengthen the judiciary’s efficiency and effectiveness. The training focused on equipping participants with updated knowledge, tools, and best practices in areas such as legal research, case management, court procedures, and compliance standards. It was an important step toward ensuring that the FSM judiciary continues to uphold the highest standards of justice and accessibility for all.

As part of the program, the Friends of the Pohnpei Public Library was invited to deliver a presentation highlighting the intersection of information management and judicial practice. The session was presented by Mr. Andrew Trigg, an Australian Volunteer working with the library, and Mr. Jordan Ligorio, the Library Aide. Together, they shared insights into:

  • Steps in information management – how information can be systematically collected, organized, and retrieved efficiently.

  • Preservation of information and data – practices to safeguard records for long-term accessibility.

  • Court compliance considerations – aligning information handling with legal and regulatory standards to support transparency and accountability.

The presentation was well received and underscored the importance of libraries and information professionals in supporting not just education and community learning, but also critical institutions like the judiciary. By bridging the fields of librarianship and law, the Friends of the Pohnpei Public Library contributed to strengthening the foundations of justice in the FSM.
