Dr. Joseph was born and raised on a remote island in the South Pacific and is proudly from Pohnpei, Micronesia. His remarkable journey took him from island life to Guam, through military service, and ultimately to becoming one of the very few physicians from his homeland to earn a medical education in the United States.
Guided by Micronesian values, perseverance, and a strong commitment to service, Dr. Joseph served two tours in Iraq with the U.S. military, where he discovered his calling in medicine. He went on to graduate from medical school and is now a board-certified emergency medicine physician, serving as a medical leader and advocate for healthcare equity both in the U.S. and back home in Pohnpei.
Dr. Joseph’s story is one of resilience, education, and giving back to community—an inspiring example for children and adults alike. We are honored to welcome him to Story Hour and look forward to sharing this special experience with our young readers.
📅 Join us tomorrow for Story Hour Thursday (12/18/25) and help us give Dr. Joseph a warm library welcome!
